The ISTQB Test Automation Engineering Certificate Course (CT-TAE) is a three-day course that explains the duties of a test automation engineer when it comes to designing, developing, and maintaining test automation solutions.

The course includes exercises and practice tests to highlight important aspects of the curriculum and to help participants understand and practice the concepts and methods presented.

This course prepares you to take the ISTQB Advanced Level Test Automation Engineer Certificate exam.

Course Objective

After the course, you will be able to (as a test automation engineer at advanced level):

Contribute to the development of a plan to integrate automated testing into the testing process
Evaluate automation tools and technologies that are best suited for each project and organization
Create an approach and methodology for building a test automation architecture (TAA)
Design and develop (new or modified) test automation solutions that meet the needs of the business
Enable the transition from manual to automated testing
Create automated test reporting and metric collection
Manage and optimize test assets to facilitate maintenance and manage evolving (test) systems

Target Group

This 3-day course is suitable for professionals in roles such as testers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, software developers and anyone wishing to obtain the ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer certificate. The course may also be suitable for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of software test automation, such as project managers, quality managers, software development managers, business analysts, IT managers and management consultants.

The certification is aimed at professionals working in a tool-supported software testing environment. It is also intended for professionals who plan to start working in a tool-supported software testing environment in the future, or who work within companies that plan to do so.

Prerequisites

Candidates for ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineering must hold the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certificate.

Certification

As part of the course, you will receive an online certification voucher provided by Informator. After completing the course, go to the sstb.se website to book your exam.

The test

Format: 40 multiple-choice questions.
Duration: 90 minutes (+ extra time for non-native English speakers).
Pass mark: 65% is required to pass.

A second chance

If you have completed an ISTQB course (classroom or online) with an ISTQB/SSTB-accredited training provider and did not pass the test associated with the course, you can take a free re-test online. The conditions for this are:

You enrolled in the ISTQB course and exam at the same time
The ISTQB course was delivered by an SSTB accredited training provider
The course is SSTB accredited for the specific provider
You have completed the entire course
The first test was taken within three months of the course
This is the first time you apply for a free reassessment for that course
You must take the retest within six months of the course date.
